I would advise parents to always remember that they are their child’s first and most important teacher. And even when their children head off to school, the learning that they do together will never stop. This is a significantly important concept to remember because parents are the support system that students need to teach them right from wrong, to teach them that character matters, and to teach them that striving for academic success is the necessary blueprint for making a remarkable life for themselves.
People say real estate in Santa Fe is exorbitant. I’m not so sure. For just under $300,000 one can purchase a well furnished room in the most envied House in The Land of Enchantment. Not too shabby.Read More
The truth is that Albuquerque supports our schools (despite a chronic inability to make improvements at scale) but doubt the ability of current leadership to make changes and get dollars to teachers and classrooms.Read More
Why are we fixing what is not broken? The PARCC is just an assessment, yes, and a valuable and effective one at that. We should work on ensuring all of our students can reach the rigorous standards of the PARCC in New Mexico because we want our students to be proficient in every category in every way, no matter what state they end up living in later in life.

Instead, let’s do the hard work of enacting change on behalf of all students, from Dulce to Deming.Read More
The best teachers share great ideas with each other and tweak those ideas to meet the individual needs of their students.
